She’s the dog I never knew I needed. I lost my heart dog, who I also adopted from MACS, in to cancer in 2015. It broke my heart; I didn’t think I would ever get over it. He was my personal comedian, co-pilot, and best friend, and he left a massive void in my heart when he left me, and I spent nearly two years mourning that loss. Fast forward to November 2016, when a five month old puppy, with a glint of mischief in her eyes, changed my life again. I wasn’t in the market for another dog, but I knew the moment I saw her picture that I needed her in my life.
She was a disaster, my own personal wrecking ball, when I brought her home, but I knew there was something special about her though, and we got to work. With a lot of patience, never-ending obedience work, a lot of vet appointments to get her health on track, and unlimited love, I’ve uncovered the diamond in the rough; my Liberty. She’s filled the void in my heart, has filled my life with laughter, and I can’t help but believe that sometimes, things are just meant to be.
Thank you, MACS, for sheltering and caring for the two dogs who have forever changed my heart.
